Fuad Shahbazov is a Baku-based policy analyst focusing on regional security, defense, and energy diplomacy issues. He frequently provides the local and international media with analytical insights regarding the major developments in the post-Soviet region and beyond. Also, Fuad regularly takes part in different conferences and roundtable meetings abroad to conduct presentations and lectures. He mostly covers the South Caucasus region, China-BRI, Turkey, and Iran.
Fuad got his bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in International Relations from Baku Slavonic University and obtained a master’s degree (M.A.) in Political Science at the University of Bologna. Between 2012-2013 he was a Junior Advisor at the Center for Economic and Social Development (CESD), a Baku-based research organization.
In 2015, he became a Research Assistant at the European Policy Center (EPC) in Brussels, Belgium. From 2016-2018, Fuad worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SAM).
In 2018, Fuad was a Visitor Scholar at the Daniel Morgan School of National Security (Prevention of Violence Program) in Washington D.C.
Since 2018, Fuad is a Senior Analyst at a Baku-based consulting company/think-tank.
